You're going to have a lot of fun with your new toy. Well the first thing that should strike your thoughts after holding that toy for a few moments "where do I begin?" Not to worry, we will tell you everything you need to know to operate your ipod smartly with ease.
There's a lot more to learn when it comes to more advanced use, of course, but the things that follow below are what you're likely to need to know in the first days or weeks of having an iPod.
Let'a start then......
First, download and install iTunes
How to Install iTunes on Windows
Apple does not include iTunes on a CD with iPods any more. Instead, it offers it as a download from its website. Here's how to find iTunes and set up, which you need to do before you can sync your iPod.
Go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ to download the correct version of iTunes for your computer.
On this page, choose your operating system, decide if you want to receive email newsletters from Apple, and enter your email address to begin the download.Once iTunes has downloaded, you will see an icon called iTunes Setup on the desktop. Double click this icon to start the installation process.A series of on-screen instructions will come up in a window. Follow the instructions in the windows. As part of the set up process, iTunes will ask you to choose some installation options. They include:
Install Desktop Shortcut - This will place the iTunes icon on your desktop.
Use iTunes as default player for audio files - Choose this if you want iTunes to handle all your audio files, including CDs, MP3s, podcasts, and downloads.
Install Apple Software Update - Choose this. It will help keep iTunes automtically up to date.
Default iTunes language - Choose your language
Destination Folder - Use the default
ITunes can automatically scan your hard drive for music files and import them into iTunes. That's what you choose to do in this window. MP3 and AAC files are the default types for iTunes. WMA files can be played, too, though those with DRM can't. No kind of WMA file can be played on an iPod.Once the program is installed, you can create an iTunes Store account, if you like to buy music online.
ITunes can keep your music files organized, even when you edit their information. This is generally a good idea, so I recommend choosing "yes" in this window. Now start importing the CDs you want in your iTunes library and on your iPod.
To begin copying songs from your CDs to iTunes and your iPod (a process called ripping), open iTunes. Be sure that your computer is connected to the Internet.
Then insert the CD you want to import into your computer's CD/DVD drive.
Your computer will think for a few moments, and then will show you this screen. If you are properly connected to the Internet, the CD name, artist name, and song titles will all display in this window.
If they don't display, double check that you are connected to the Internet, and then eject and re-insert the CD.
NOTE: Some CDs use a form of digital rights management that makes it difficult to add songs to iTunes. This is a controversial practice by record companies and may or may not be maintained. This tutorial does not cover importing songs from these CDs.
In the bottom right-hand corner of the iTunes window, you will see a button that reads "import." Click this to import the CD into your iTunes.
The songs will now import into iTunes. The progress of the import is displayed in the box at the top of the iTunes window. Songs that have been imported have green checkmarks next to them. One that are currently being imported have an orange wavy line next to them.
Wait until all songs from your CD have imported. You will know the process is complete when your computer makes a chime sound and all songs have the green checkmark next to them.Navigate through your iTunes library to find the CD you just imported. If it's there, you're all set!
The next time you sync your iPod with your computer, the new songs you've added will be placed on your iPod!
Sync your iPod to get the new songs on it. You can sync your iPod by disconnecting and then reconnecting your iPod, right clicking the iPod in iTunes after it's connected and choosing sync, or going to the File menu and choosing "sync iPod."
You're ready to go and dive deep into the fun world of the iPod.
